Milan step up renewed chase for Adebayor
THE future of Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor looked all the more uncertain last night after AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi insisted there was a “good chance” the Togo international would sign in the summer.
Adebayor was a target for the Italian giants last summer before the striker signed an extended contract at the Emirates Stadium.
But exit rumours have now re-surfaced and it’s Arsenal’s London rivals Chelsea seemingly leading the chase after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted he would have no qualms about selling the 25-year-old.
Wenger has, however, insisted Adebayor is part of his rebuilding plans for next season, while the player himself said he would be “100 per cent” staying at the club. But AC Milan’s continued interest is bound to interest both parties with Berlusconi clearly confident of getting his man. “There is a good chance that we can get Adebayor,” he told the Italian media.
Meanwhile, Milan striker Ronaldinho has rejected reports linking him with a move to Manchester City in the summer, insisting he wants to stay on at the San Siro.
City tried to sign the Brazilian last summer but he opted for Milan and has since struggled to cement his place in Carlo Ancellotti’s set-up.
Ronaldinho said: “Moving to Manchester City is not part of my intentions. I am good at Milan even if the truth is that I wish I had played more.”
