Microsoft will give new version of Windows free to customers
MICROSOFT has announced that the latest version of its Windows operating system will be available as a free upgrade for existing users upon its 29 July release.
Customers who run Windows on their tablet devices, laptops and PCs are now able to reserve to upgrade their device to the new Windows 10 on the release date.
As well as the initial release at the end of next month, Windows 10 will be periodically updated by Microsoft.
The new operating system will include Cortana, a personal digital assistant designed to challenge Apple’s Siri product.
Microsoft has also brought back the Start menu button, which was controversially left out of the latest version of the software, Windows 8. The company said yesterday that it was bringing back the Start menu its users “know and love”.
Windows 10 will have Word, Excel and PowerPoint software built in. It is the first major launch from Microsoft since Satya Nadella became chief executive last year.
