McGrigors looks at UK expansion with new post
MCGRIGORS, one of Scotland’s largest law firms, has overhauled its management structure after appointing Kirk Murdoch as the new UK-wide senior partner.
Murdoch, who has been a partner with the law firm for 28 years, will assume the newly created role at the start of next month.
His new post, which will effectively see him act as the firm’s chairman, will hand him responsibility for the firm’s entire network of offices in Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.
The move is a step away from McGrigor’s original structure, which saw the senior partner post shared between two individuals but only oversaw the firm’s English and Scottish business.
Murdoch had shared the senior position with London-based partner Phillip Burroughs, who is set to stand down from the board at the end of the month.
McGrigors is hoping that Murdoch’s appointment will help to bolster its profile beyond its Scottish practice and compete with the likes of Eversheds.
As part of the management overhaul, Richard Masters will remain as managing partner.
