McDonald’s cannot drive through turnaround plans quick enough
MCDONALD’S served up yet more disappointing sales figures for May, the food icon said yesterday.
McDonald’s worldwide sales declined by 0.3 per cent in May, but still beat expectations thanks to strong performances in the UK.
Sales in Europe rose 2.3 per cent in May. Strong results in western Europe were partly offset by slightly negative results in Russia.
Watford-born chief exec Steve Easterbrook said the fast food chain’s turnaround plan is working, despite not stemming the sales downturn which has been negative for the past 12 months.
“Our goal is to be a modern, progressive burger company that is responsive to consumers’ evolving preferences, provides a contemporary experience for our customers and drives long-term value for our system and our shareholders,” he said.
Shares closed down 0.2 per cent.
