Mayweather ignites bout with Pacquiao
UNDEFEATED American superstar Floyd Mayweather could not resist taunting rival Manny Pacquiao last night as the duo faced off during a pre-fight news conference ahead of the much-awaited Las Vegas showdown in May.
The bout is set to be the richest in history with an expected purse in the region of £167m. Mayweather is unbeaten in 47 professional fights dating back to 1996, while Filipino Pacquiao has won 57, lost five and drawn two of his 64 clashes.
“When you lose it’s in your mind. If you’ve lost one it’s in your mind, if you’ve lost twice it’s in your mind,” said Mayweather. “I want everyone to tune into the biggest fight in history. 2 May, that’s when the world stops.”
Six-weight world champion Pacquiao added: “To the fans of boxing, I believe this is what you are waiting for since five years ago.”
