Here's what got us talking this week
1) The country went to the polls
Whether you were north of the border or south of it, yesterday was a miserable day for Jeremy Corbyn and co.
SNP claimed their win as "historic" but really it was the news that the Tories had displaced Labour as the second party which really made us take note. In England, Labour became the first opposition party to lose seats since the mid-1980s, prompting a surge in mutterings from the party's rebel alliance. The party clung on in Wales, but it was Plaid Cymru and Ukip who walked away with their heads held high.
2) And in London….
The results came in much later than the rest of the country, but by the end of the day it was clear we had quite a different mayor picking up from where Boris Johnson left off.
3) Trump finally trumped
The billionaire tycoon saw off his Republican rivals this week, and he wasted no opportunity to tell the world some of his plans, which include ditching Fed Reserve boss Janet Yellen for her politics (rather than her policies) and weighing in on the EU referendum.
4) Green turned red
As the BHS drama builds, Sir Philip Green came out all guns blazing this week, telling MPs exactly what he thought of them.
5) School's out (of the rankings)
UK universities are slipping down the world's rankings – and that includes Oxbridge. But if you're considering a post-graduate degree, these are the ones that pay.
