Marston’s pubs in sales growth
MARSTON’S pub chain and brewer yesterday reported that first-half revenue rose 4.5 per cent to £374.3m during the 26 weeks to April on the back of the expansion of its estate.
“We’ve seen growth across the business. On strategy we’ve opened 11 new pub-restaurants in the first half of the year and we’re on track for 27 in the full year, and that’s in line with the plan we’ve got to open between 25 and 30 each year going forward,” chief executive Ralph Findlay told City A.M.
Marston’s profit rose 9.4 per cent to £29m during the same period as sales in its self-managed pub estate grew 5.7 per cent. Shares closed down a per cent at 148.5p yesterday.
