Techies and retailers beat the bankers to win 100 free lunches in Deliveroo’s corporate competition
IT’S SAFE to say that City workers are bracing themselves for a disappointing bonus season. Reports earlier this month found that banker’s bonuses could plummet by almost 10 per cent, but City firms are trying to make up the difference by winning free lunches for their workforce.
Up-market fast food transporter Deliveroo has launched a competition for its corporate clients. They’re asking City boys and girls to nominate their own firms for a chance to win 100 free lunches for colleagues, with three categories for small, medium and large companies.
The three companies with the most votes will bring home the bacon, and the City’s biggest banks and firms have already started getting their employees to vote.
Nominations have already flooded in from staffers at Barclays, BNP Paribas, RBS, KPMG and Deloitte, but it’s the marketing and retail firms leading the way.
So far, the top ranking businesses include travel firm Homeswap (49 votes), web designer LogicSpot (235 votes) and marketer Starcom (123 votes), leaving retailer Debenhams falling behind with just 45 entries.
BNP Paribas is currently the winning bank in Deliveroo’s rankings, as 13 members of staff have already voted for the French giant. Barclays and RBS, meanwhile, trail behind with just one entry each.
It didn’t escape our notice that Deliveroo staff have tried to cheat the system; three employees have already nominated Deliveroo to win its own competition.
On spotting the faux pas, a spokesperson told us that any entries for Deliveroo will be automatically disqualified. Well, it was worth a shot
