Manufacturing and industrial production miss estimates
A dent to the UK picture this morning.
Industrial production grew by just 0.4 per cent in December on a seasonally adjusted basis, and manufacturing by 0.3 per cent, according to the Office for National Statistics.
Analysts had been expecting growth of 0.6 per cent across both. This month's release should see a small knock to fourth quarter GDP estimates.
The preliminary estimate of GDP, published on 28 January 2014, contained a forecasted rise of 0.7% for production in Q4 2013.
This release of data estimates that production rose by 0.5% between Q3 2013 and Q4 2013 but the impact on the previously published Q4 2013 GDP estimate is less than 0.05%.
