Mancini demands City’s leaking defence tighten up against Ajax
MANCHESTER City manager Roberto Mancini has told his
team that they can no longer continue to give Europe’s elite footballers so many goalscoring opportunities if they are to advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The Premier League champions’ defence has this season significantly declined and to the extent that 50 attempts on goal were shared against them in a defeat to Real Madrid and a draw with Borussia Dortmund.
“It is important we don’t give away so many chances to score,” said Mancini, whose side are tonight away to Ajax. “We have to think about winning this game.”
