Man arrested in south London for terrorist offences “linked to extremist Islamist terrorism”
A man has been arrested in south London on suspicion of being involved in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
The 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Tuesday 22 December) under the Terrorism Act. Metropolitan Police said the arrest was "being linked to extremist Islamist terrorism".
The man was detained by officers at a business address in south London just after 5pm yesterday. He was taken to a central London police station and remains in custody at this time.
Officers are now searching a residential address in south London, as they continue making enquiries into the case.
The UK's threat level is currently set at severe, meaning that a terrorist attack is highly likely.
