Wimbledon: Majestic Federer to cast his SW19 spell once more
Wimbledon begins on Monday and it’s always a challenge to tip winners, especially before the crucial draw is made today.
The recent French Open was a perfect example of the importance of being on the right side of the draw.
Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray met in the semi-final and the five-set battle almost certainly cost Djokovic another Major, as he was sluggish against Stan Wawrinka in the final.
The seeds for this year’s Wimbledon have already been announced – with Djokovic, Roger Federer, Murray and Wawrinka the top four in that order – but the only certainty at this stage is that Djokovic and Roger Federer will be on the opposite side of the draw.

As short-priced tournament favourite, Djokovic may be a tempting choice for some, but I’m happy to steer clear of the Serb and look for value elsewhere.
British favourite Murray was impressive when dispatching the giant-serving South African Kevin Anderson in the final of Queen’s Club last week, but I’m not entirely confident of him winning a semi-final against either Djokovic or Federer.
Federer may be ageing gracefully but is still ranked second in the world and looked a man reborn on the grass courts of Halle last week.
The seven-time Wimbledon winner will hopefully get a comfortable passage through to the latter stages of the tournament and I’m happy to back him each-way at 6/1 with Betway.
Regardless of the draw there will certainly be interest in the early rounds, as qualifiers and wildcard entries try to make their mark on the tournament.
Inevitably, there will be some players who are simply outclassed on the day, which is why I will be buying the number of sets won to love across the entire men’s singles tournament at a very generous 6.7 with Sporting Index.
