London transport chaos: Cannon Street rail service disruption due to flooding on platforms 1 and 2 continues for a second day
City commuters are facing a second day of delays caused by flooding at Cannon Street rail station.
National Rail said train services running to and from this station may be cancelled or diverted to and from London Blackfriars with disruption set to continue until noon.
This follows a day of delays yesterday, with several services cancelled or diverted to other stations in the capital.
A water leak occurred in a building above Cannon Street station on Monday afternoon, causing water to flow into the station above platforms 1 and 2.
Plumbing staff have been in the building since the leak begun, but the water is still leaking into the station and neither platform can be used by trains this morning.
"We need to use all the platforms at the station to run all the trains to London Cannon Street in the timetable," said National Rail.
National Rail advised passengers travelling to or from London Cannon Street on trains that use the Sidcup Line, Woolwich Line, Bexleyheath Line or Hayes Line, that their train may be cancelled because its platform is not available at London Cannon Street.
