London Stock Exchange gets a US health-kick in Global Entry breakfast launch
Despite the indulgences and parties of the holiday season, it looks like more than a few high-flying City slickers are cutting back on the carbs in the run up to Christmas.
At Monday's Global Entry launch breakfast with Sajid Javid and Karren Brady at the London Stock Exchange, The Capitalist was tempted by an array of trendy American offerings, from mini-pancakes to raspberry smoothie shots to small bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Truly an offering that could even rival the breakfast “pantry” at Bloomberg's Moorgate offices.
However, we were surprised to see stacks of carb-loaded bagels left over with the smoked salmon removed.
An LSE source tells us: "it happens more often than you'd think".
Certainly, the capitalist has seen more than a few healthy breakfast habits seeping into the Square Mile in recent months.
While brunching with Movember charity folk at the Gherkin when the Rugby World Cup was in full swing last month, it didn’t go unnoticed that guests were given lovely (if modest) portions. Just one sausage and one rasher with the full English, despite sportsmen such as All Blacks rugby captain Sean Fitzpatrick and France's Serge Betsen making up a good portion of the party.
Are we all making room for the turkey already?
