London Fashion Week 2015: The best of the collections
City A.M. Bespoke fashion director Ozzy Shah gives his take on this year’s London Fashion Week.
OSMAN
I loved this show. It was an absolutely brilliant collection, one of his best ever. It was very clean and minimal, quite refreshing compared to a lot of busy, complicated shows this year. The clothes were pared back, as were the hair and make-up – quite a clinical approach to autum/winter. The white, as you can see above, is going to be another big trend for this year; quite unusual for winter, which is often associated with blacks, greys and browns.
TEMPERLEY
Temperley is very British. It has a very cool, English country girl vibe, the kind of thing you can imagine Poppy Delevingne wearing. This was a very glitzy collection with a lot of boho references, which wasn’t surprising, really. There was also a bit of an 80s thing going on as you can see from the piece pictured above. Geometric prints are going to be really big for autumn/winter 15 and Temperley was really rocking them.
ASHISH
This was my absolute favourite show, I was literally dying. He’s one of very few designers who is very consistent in his collections. He has his own style and signature look and everything is very cohesive. His typical girl is very British, very cool, she probably lives in East London – only in this collection I think she’s grown up.
DAKS
This was the coolest collection of LFW. It was very London, stuck to the heritage and tradition of the brand but they made things very wearable. Red is going to be everywhere in the upcoming season and there was loads of it in this show. Every piece that came down the catwalk put a smile on my face. This is what London Fashion Week is all about. The piece pictured is a lovely coat-dress in red velvet, paired with a very 60s-style hat. It’s beautiful.
BURBERRY
This was a really great collection, and a nice carry-over from menswear. There is an overarching vision for the brand – this year had an Aztec/boho vibe. It felt comfortable and confident. Burberry knows it doesn’t need to be constantly making something out of the ordinary – it knows what works for its customers and it makes those pieces beautifully. This brand is on fire right now.
