London Report: German finance figures to come under spotlight
THE FLOW of macroeconomic data will slowdown significantly over the coming week, with the key risk events moving towards the Eurozone.
In particular, investors will be watching out for the latest manufacturing sector purchasing managers’ indices from the euro area.
Economists at Credit Suisse indicated that a half-point increase in the PMI would be consistent with a pace of expansion in gross domestic product of about one per cent at an annualised pace.
The German Institute for Economic Research’s (IFO) gauge of business confidence in Germany, the Eurozone’s largest economy, will also be closely followed. Investors are keen to assess to what extent the tensions in Ukraine are weighing further, or not, on executives’ “animal spirits”.
In the UK, traders’ focus will be on Tuesday’s public sector borrowing data.
On Monday there will be interim results from China Chaintek United, GVC Holdings, Lighthouse Group, Moss Bros, NetDimensions, Sprue Aegis and Waterlogic, and final results from Allergy Therapeutics, Finsbury Food and Gemfields.
On Tuesday, interims will be from AA, Air Partner, Augean, Barr, Centralnic, Cupid, Dolphin Capital Investors, Faroe Petroleum, GLI Finance, Highland Gold Mining, Horizon Discovery, KBC Advanced Technologies, NAHL and NetScientific.
Close Brothers Group, Netcall and Regenersis will release finals.
BBA Mortgage Lending Figures and Public Sector Finances data will also be announced.
On Wednesday, 32Red, Bango, Camco Clean Energy, Instem, Judges Scientific, Metal Tiger, Outsourcery, Personal Group Holdings, Proxama, S&U and Scisys announce interims. There will be finals from Clinigen and Eagle Eye Solutions.
Thursday sees interims from DJI, Epwin Group, Incadea, Inditherm, Learning Technologies Group , Manx Telecom , Mission Marketing Group, Miton Group, Northbridge Industrial Services, Surgical Innovations Group, Synairgen and Toumaz. And Hansard Global will release finals.
On Friday Public Service Properties Investments releases interims, while Asian Citrus Holding, Digital Globe Services and Produce Investments will publish finals. Boohoo.com will issue an annual report.
