London needs to stay a welcoming hub for tech, says Facebook exec
London needs to continue to open its arms to the tech sector, a Facebook exec has said today.
Nicola Mendelsohn, vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Facebook, told the audience at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) conference that it was important to keep looking "outwards and not inwards", adding: "We need to remain a welcome home to tech."
The tech vice president added London was currently a place where the company's "engineers want to work".
However, she noted, while it was "still too early to say what's going to be happening with Brexit", the free movement of talent was something which mattered greatly to the firm.
Mendelsohn's comments come as the company reveals it will be creating another 500 jobs in the UK.

"If you're looking for a job, we're hiring," Mendelsohn joked.
Meanwhile, just last week, Google revealed it would be going ahead with plans for a new £1bn headquarters in the UK, increasing its workforce in the UK as a result.
