London insurer Thomas Miller piles on sail with Hamburg acquisition
London-headquartered insurance company Thomas Miller has acquired specialist German shipping, trade and transport insurance specialist Zeller Associates.
Thomas Miller, which is based on Fenchurch Street in the heart of London’s insurance quarter, announced today it had agreed to purchase the managing general agency and insurance services operations of Zeller for an undisclosed sum.

Zeller was founded by Harald Zeller, who spent eight years at sea, starting as a deckhand and working his way up to captain, before becoming a maritime lawyer and then moving into the insurance industry.
He founded Zeller Associates in 1996, which, as well as providing risk and insurance services to the shipping sector, also provides services in other specialist areas such as the cruise and tourism industries.
Headquartered in Hamburg, it provides services such as insurance underwriting and management, claims handling, loss adjusting and expert investigations.
