London Car Free Day 2019: Everything you need to know about this weekend’s event
Drivers have been warned to avoid large parts of central London as over 200 roads close in the capital for Car Free Day 2019.
Between 7am and 7pm on Sunday, pedestrians will be given free rein across London Bridge and Tower Bridge, as the city highlights the problems caused by air pollution.

The closures will hit 204 roads in the City of London, Tower Hamlets, and Southwark on the day.
To celebrate the day, Santander bikes across the city will be free to ride. Use the code CarFreeDay2019 to get unlimited 30-minute journeys, and by Tower Gardens, staff will be on hand to make sure the docking stations do not fill up.
If you’re venturing to town you might want to see the hedge maze that is being set up in Cheapside. Otherwise the nightmare traffic trap that is Bank junction will be transformed into a festival space with a picnic area.
Musicians will perform at Bank on a stage powered by the sun.

Bring the kids to Poultry for a go-kart making session, and then they can race around the area. But if the little ones are keener on taking a step back in history, you can join the Tower of London for its re-enactment of the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381.
If the kids aren’t around, you can stretch out with some yoga on Tower Bridge – though watch out for the classic cycle rides which are also going across it – or just enjoy the street food and art installations.
Bus routes
There will be changes to 18 bus routes. Some will divert or stop short of their normal destination. Others will not stop at the usual places, while some bus stops will be moved, or suspended.
If you’re travelling on one of the following bus routes you might notice changes to your regular journey: 4, 8, 11, 15, 17, 21, 25, 26, 42, 43, 47, 76, 78, 133, 141, 343, 344 and 381.
