Lockheed Martin expands in Britain
DEFENCE and technology giant Lockheed Martin plans to create 200 new UK jobs after its British arm won a $100m (£63.2m) IT contract with the new Nato headquarters in Brussels.
Lockheed, which runs some of the Pentagon’s computer networks, said the roles will be spread across London and the south west of England.
The company also announced a deal to buy Glasgow-based technology firm Amor Group for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase of Amor, which is focused on business critical solutions for the energy, transport and public services sectors, will make Lockheed one of the ten biggest firms in the British IT market, it said in a statement.
“We were at the stage in our life cycle where we were looking at refinancing to support our growth ambitions as well as allow our private equity partners to exit in line with their original investment plans,” said Amor chief executive John Innes. Amor, founded in 2009 and backed by Growth Capital Partners, employs more than 600 people across the UK.
