Lest we forget: NYC mourns victims of 9/11
THOUSANDS of mourners gathered at the World Trade Center in New York City yesterday to remember the victims of 9/11 on the tenth anniversary of the attacks.
President Barack Obama and former President George Bush joined families and mourners at a new memorial built at Ground Zero, where the names of all of those who perished are engraved.
Almost 3,000 people died a decade ago when four hijacked planes were crashed into the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania.
The name of every person killed was read out at the all-day ceremony in New York. A minute’s silence marked every moment that a plane struck or a tower fell.
