Lehman Brothers ex-bankers plan London reunion 10 years on from investment bank’s disastrous collapse
Former bankers from Lehman Brothers are reportedly planning to reunite next month at an event marking a decade since the investment bank collapsed, triggering the global financial crisis.
Some 210 bankers, who occupied roles spanning from analyst to managing director at the time of the crash, will meet in London around the middle of September, according to Financial News.
An email seen by Financial News said: “It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since the last of our Lehman days! […] One of the best things about Lehman was the people. What better way to celebrate the tenth anniversary than getting everyone from former MDs to former analysts back together again!”
US investment banking giant Lehman Brothers filed for the largest bankruptcy in history on 15 September 2008, sparking global market panic, the effects of which are still being felt today.
The event had been planned to coincide with the anniversary on 15 September at the Conduit, a Mayfair members club, Financial News reported. However, it has reportedly been moved.
The direct effects of the collapse are still being felt in London, with Lehman Brothers International Europe in administration. Creditors from the bank are still being paid, with a surplus from the European operations.
