Legal sector confident as associate salary ban lifted
A NUMBER of major UK law firms have signalled a return in confidence by unfreezing associate pay.
Recently merged, Hogan Lovells is the latest large firm to lift a ban on pay rises, after handing out a small salary increase to associates.
Lawyers at Hogan Lovells who have just qualified will now earn £60,000, marking a £1,000 pay rise from last year, while the firm has also upped pay for first, second and third year qualified associates.
The news signals a return to confidence for London law firms, which froze associate pay a year ago.
Other firms to unfreeze pay include Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Slaughter and May, and Linklaters.
