Leader Rory’s living the dream
RORY MCILROY insists he is “living the dream” – even if he doesn’t clinch the Race to Dubai title this weekend.
The 20-year-old could be crowned Europe’s youngest No1 since Seve Ballesteros in 1976 if he holds off Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Ross Fisher in the inaugural Dubai World Championship, starting today.
“I’m just living out my dream and I couldn’t be happier,” the Northern Irishman said. “To be sitting here now 13th in the world, leading The Race to Dubai, I’m just really enjoying it. This is what I’ve always wanted to do.”
McIlroy leads Westwood by €127,000 and could even stay top of the table by finishing last of the 58-strong field this weekend.
Westwood, Kaymer and Fisher will only stand a chance if they finish seventh, fourth and second respectively.
