Late serving of Lamb repeats on Gloucester
FLY-HALF Ryan Lamb came back to haunt old team Gloucester by scoring a late, match-winning penalty on his Northampton debut as Saints triumphed 26-24 in their Premiership season opener.
Gloucester looked to have snatched the points with a second-half comeback from 23-13 down, capped by a Freddie Burns drop-goal with just four minutes remaining.
But Lamb, who moved from Kingsholm to Franklin’s Gardens over the summer, had the final say between two sides missing several stars on World Cup duty.
Gloucester earned a losing bonus point – as did London Irish and champions Saracens on Saturday, who lost to Harlequins and Wasps in the London double header.
