Lancaster allays fitness fears over prop Wilson
ENGLAND coach Stuart Lancaster has played down concerns about prop David Wilson’s lack of match practice for tomorrow’s pivotal Six Nations fixture against unbeaten Ireland at Twickenham.
Wilson, who replaces the injured Dan Cole in the only change to the team that beat Scotland a fortnight ago, has played just 47 minutes of rugby in the last two months – and that came last weekend.
“David has been fantastic in training this week and is ready to play, so there’s no concern about him,” said Lancaster. “I’m very sure he’ll go all right. He’s an excellent tighthead and experienced. He’s fitted seamlessly back into camp.”
Uncapped Bath fly-half George Ford, 20, replaces centre Brad Barritt among the replacements in the only other change to the 23-man matchday squad.
