Lampard bullish ahead of Reds showdown
CHELSEA midfielder Frank Lampard has hit back at critics who say the Blues are yet to click under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
The west Londoners head into Sunday’s crunch clash with Liverpool off the back of a scrappy win at Apoel Nicosia and a shock defeat at Wigan.
But with nine wins under their belt from 10 games, Lampard believes their results prove they are strong enough to take on their Premier League title rivals.
“I don’t know why people say we’re not clicking,” said Lampard. “We’ve only lost one game this season. We lost against Wigan and we didn’t play well there at all. If you look over the season, we’ve clicked together as a team. We try to win every game and when we don’t we just try harder. It’s a big game against Liverpool but they lost the other night and will be trying to improve as well.”
Ancelotti, meanwhile, has leapt to the defence of Lampard, who is yet to find his shooting boots. Usually the source of 20 goals a season, he has netted just once this time. The Italian said: “I’m not worried because Lampard will score and he is working hard for the team.”
