Labour MP for Rochdale Simon Danczuk: Ed Miliband is more of a toff than Cameron
Ed Miliband faced a scathing attack today – from a member of his own party.
Simon Danczuk, the Labour MP for Rochdale, said Miliband was a liability and failed to connect with voters – many of which thought him a “f*****g knob.”
The Labour leader, he said, was more of a toff than Cameron, while the party had been hijacked by the liberal north London elite.
Danczuk was speaking in an interview with the New Statesman magazine, and made no secret of his frustrations.
Labour, he said was losing ground because it found itself unable to address the issue that matter to the public, such as immigration. Politics in general, he said, needed to connect with the common voter.
I do think the party has almost been hijacked by what I’ve described previously as a north London liberal elite.
It’s just so disconnected. So it’s not even just about whether we have MPs from a working background, it’s the whole party and travel of direction for the party.
We don’t speak on immigration because we’re afraid of upsetting certain sections of the London Labour Party. You know, what about Rochdale where we have 600-800 asylum seekers? Where immigration is a massive problem.
Miliband has indicated he will not discipline Danczuk, saying that the MP’s statement that the interview didn’t represent his views was sufficient.
