KYRAN BRACKEN’S PRE-MATCH VIEW
ENGLAD LOOK TO DOUBLE UP
England proved they have the tools to become a competitive force with their victory in Paris last week now they must prove it wasn’t a one-off. The players are united in their support of Stuart Lancaster and they’ll know a victory over Ireland will further advance the cause of their interim head coach – that’s got to be as big a motivating factor as the remote possibility of defending their Six Nations Crown.
IRELAND LACK A TALISMAN
Without Paul O’Connell and Brian O’Driscoll Ireland lack a talismanic presence and I think that, despite some impressive performances in the tournament, that has had a psychological impact on their players.
In last year’s Grand Slam decider England were mashed up front and dominated at the line-out but I can see the opposite happening this time around. England’s set-piece has been impressive, particularly the scrum which was an area of concern, and if they get that right again I can them cruising to a thumping victory on St Patrick’s Day.
