Cath Kidston to step down as creative director of her homeware group
Cath Kidston is stepping down from her eponymous UK homeware company, 21 years after founding it.
Kidston, currently creative director of the brand and chain of high street stores, will become a non-executive director of the group from 5 December as she leaves the day-to-day running of the business.
“When I opened my first shop in 1993, I never imagined that it would grow into a global phenomenon,” said Kidston. “Stepping back from day-to-day involvement in a business that I feel passionate about will be one of the most difficult challenges I have faced, but for me, and for the business, it is the right time to take this positive step.”
Kenny Wilson, chief executive of the group since 2011, said: “We have prepared carefully for this transition to ensure that the business moves forward seamlessly, recognising the potential that exists for us to build on the momentum achieved in recent years.”
