Keys and Gray given chance to relaunch careers after sexism row by talkSPORT
FORMER Sky Sports presenters Richard Keys and Andy Gray, who left the broadcaster last month amid a sexism storm, are to be reunited at talkSPORT.
The duo, set to make their comeback on 14 February, left Sky last month after off air comments made about assistant referee Sian Massey made their way into the public domain.
Both men were caught making demeaning remarks about the official, who was making her first televised top flight appearance in Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Wolves, and several clips of them making sexist remarks subsequently cropped up on YouTube.
Keys and Gray (left) will replace Mike Parry, who is to leave the station having worked there since its launch 11 years ago, and Mike Graham in the 10am to 1pm slot every weekday.
Keys resigned in the aftermath of his bungled apology, which he made in an hour-long interview on talkSPORT, where he claimed “dark forces” played a part in his Sky downfall.
Keys began his career in radio as a sports editor on Piccadilly Radio. Since 1992 he fronted Premier League coverage on Sky Sports along with Gray.
He said: “This is the start of something new and exciting for Andy and myself. We are delighted to be joining the talkSPORT family and can’t wait to get going.”
Gray, the former Scotland international and Aston Villa assistant manager, added: “It’s an ideal opportunity for Richard and me to do what we do best, talk about sport.”
