Junior doctors strike dates: Action will take place 12 January, 26 January and 10 February after talks with government and health minister Jeremy Hunt fail
Thousands of junior doctors will go on strike next week after last ditch talks with the government to agree new contracts failed to come to a resolution.
Doctors will go on strike for 24 hours on 12 January while a second 48 hour strike is scheduled for 26 January. Only emergency care will be offered by junior doctors during this time.
A third strike affecting all care will take place on 10 February between 8am and 5pm.
"We re-entered talks with NHS Employers and the Department of Health in December around the junior doctors’ contract dispute," the British Medical Association said.
"Those talks ended on Monday 4 January and, regrettably, without the significant progress we were seeking. As a result, junior doctors in England will be taking industrial action for the first time in 40 years."
Previously planned strikes had been called off so talks to avert industrial action could resume with health secretary Jeremy Hunt over controversial changes to contracts.
