Johnson’s runner a Dream of a bet
The Oaks might be the highlight on Friday’s card at Epsom, but there’s plenty of other good action across the remainder, including the Cazoo Handicap (3.45pm).
This is a typically competitive Epsom contest with plenty having solid claims, but the one I like the look of is DREAM WITH ME for last year’s winning trainer Mark Johnston.
He looks a typical Johnson improver who goes from the front and comes into this in fine form having won his last two.
Both of those came at Ayr and this is a more competitive race, but there looks plenty more to come judged on those victories, most notably last time where he strode away from the field in impressive style.
The form of that looks solid enough too, with plenty of those who finished behind him having running well since.
He’s up another seven pounds for that win meaning he’s rated 18 higher better than he was at the start of 2021.
I’m hoping that improvement hasn’t quite stopped yet, though, and he’ll do for me at 11/2.
Of the remainder, Blue Cup probably deserves another chance having run poorly at York last month where he was well-fancied.
He showed plenty of immaturity that day and it’s unsurprising connections have reached for a hood for the first time here.
Oisin Murphy is an interesting jockey booking and if the hood has the desired effect he could go well.
However, I still think there is more potential for improvement with Dream With Me and he’s the one to be with.
