John Lewis sees a further sales jump
JOHN lewis and Waitrose have reported further rises in weekly sales – fuelling hopes of a high street recovery.
The department store’s overall sales were up 15.1 per cent year-on-year.
Sales at the group’s supermarket rose 13.7 per cent.
John Lewis’s stores in Oxford Street, Bluewater and Kingston were among the leading lights in the figures.
Oxford Street sales were up 15.8 per cent, Bluewater 21.7 per cent, Kingston 18.3 per cent, Peter Jones 14.4 per cent and Brent Cross 7.4 per cent.
John Lewis said fashion sales rose 20.8 per cent last week, while online sales were up a third.
Sales of homewares jumped 19 per cent.
