John Lewis sales up boost
High street retailer John Lewis yesterday reported it had rung £78.54m through its tills last week – 15 per cent more than the same week last year. The retailer said that it was boosted by a jump in toy sales, games and men’s fashions – helped by the start of Christmas shopping. The group also said that furniture and homeware sales – which slumped in the downturn as people cut spending on so-called “big ticket items” are now up by 400 per cent.
