Jerome and Heys admit guilt in breaching FA’s gambling rules
STOKE City striker Cameron Jerome and Accrington Stanley managing director Robert Heys face hefty punishment, after admitting to breaking the Football Association’s strict betting rules.
Both will appear at independent hearings to answer their respective FA charges, expected to be within the next two weeks.
It is thought Jerome’s charge is not related to match fixing or betting on a game he was involved in and Stoke are fully behind the player they paid Birmingham £4m to sign in 2011.
Earlier this year Tottenham midfielder Andros Townsend was fined £18,000 and given a four-month ban, of which three were suspended, for a breach of betting regulations.
Meanwhile, in Spain nine league matches, including three from the top flight, are set to be investigated over allegations of match-fixing.
