James on verge of Stoke move
STOKE boss Tony Pulis expects to complete the signing of England goalkeeper David James from Portsmouth in the next 24 hours.
The 39-year-old shot-stopper, who has recovered from a recent calf injury, is thought to be keen to leave financially-stricken Pompey in order to have guaranteed first-team action ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
Pulis said: “We’ll have to see if the two clubs can come to a deal and we’re hoping it will be tied up for the weekend, but it will have to be right for us.”
Neill quits Toffees for Turkey
EVERTON defender Lucas Neill has agreed to join Galatasaray in a £750,000 deal – but will not move until after the weekend.
Neill will switch to the Turkish club on an 18-month contract after making a farewell appearance for the Toffees against Manchester City tomorrow.
The Australian, who only joined Everton on a free transfer in the summer, said: “I’m delighted to have signed with Galatasaray and play for a big club with big ambitions in Europe. I am looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”
