James Easdale quits Rangers board before leadership vote
RANGERS director James Easdale yesterday resigned his position on the Scottish football club’s board of directors with immediate effect on the back of strong opposition from fans.
Bus tycoon Easdale was one of four directors facing the boot at an extraordinary general meeting on 6 March, following a power play by former Rangers director and club suitor Dave King.
In a statement, the board said Easdale “leaves Rangers having never received any remuneration, bonus or compromise payment during his time at the club. He would like to thank all the fans and shareholders who supported him and wishes the club a speedy return to the top flight of Scottish football and beyond.”
Easdale’s brother, Sandy, chairman David Somers, chief executive Derek Llambias and finance director Barry Leach are all facing a fight to retain their positions.
