James Bond’s tailor Timothy Everest lectures the financial fashion pack at Bar20
If The Capitalist has learnt anything, it's that City types love all things James Bond.
Last year, no less than four financial firms in London confessed to hosting their own private screenings on the release of Spectre, and some even set up their own martini bars for the night.
Earlier this week Mads Mikkelsen, who plays Casino Royale baddie Le Chiffre, became the latest brand ambassador for FZ trader XTB, but folks at Fenchurch Street's Bar20 know that what City boys really love about the films are Mr Bond himself and his suave suits.
Business mogul Birley, owner of Mayfair members club Number 5 Hertford Street and half-brother to Tory mayoral candidate Zac Goldsmith, rocked up at his new bar in the City tucked behind the Walkie Talkie on Tuesday for an evening with Timothy Everest, the tailor behind 007's attire in Skyfall and Spectre.
Guests enjoyed complimentary Hennessy cocktails as Everest waxed lyrical on his suit designs throughout his showbiz career.
Birley himself managed to get away from usual haunt Mayfair for the evening, and even brought his pet dog. Naturally for the Mayfair businessman, the conversation turned to good breeding, but Birley assures us that despite the Goldsmith clan's pedigree upbringing, not every companion is a pure breed. The club owner tells the Capitalist that brother Zac is the proud owner of a mongrel called Murphy.
