It’s International Busking Day: Here’s what’s happening in Trafalgar Square today
Today is International Busking Day, and the capital is celebrating with a line-up of our favourite musicians, in Trafalgar Square from 12pm to 8pm.
Although mayor Sadiq Khan launched it yesterday with the likes of Corinne Bailey Rae, Olly Murs and an awkward photoshoot with British pop rock band The Vamps, today’s line-up includes London’s best-known street musicians.
To help you get in the mood for a music-filled day, here are a few of the artists playing:
Charlotte Campbell
Having written music for 10 years, Charlotte’s career took off when she took to London’s Southbank and found herself capturing the hearts of tourists and Londoners alike.
The Tailormade
The winners of Gigs Big Busk which was backed by the then Mayor of London Boris Johnson, this three-piece band fought off over 500 acts to win the competition, which took place in 2014.
Greg Johnson
This 17 year old singer-songwriter said he aims to reach a wider audience through busking in London.
Bee Bakare
A musician from Bath but based in London, Bee is currently playing gigs with new material as a solo act as well as with her new band, hoping to release her next single soon. She cites the likes of Tracy Chapman, Lauryn Hill and Anita Baker as her musical influences.
