It’s all about the thick end of the wedge with this summer’s footwear
ONE of the great joys of summer is having an excuse to splurge on footwear. Nothing improves bare legs like a majestic heel and an open toe. Whereas every year the gladiator makes its appearance, this spring/summer’s “seventies story” is a happy one for those who like heels without the agony of the stiletto. Wedges and clogs are what it’s all about, providing welcome heft and chunkiness so you won’t fall over after one too many mojitos at the beachside cocktail bar. Sarah Curran, founder of My-wardrobe.com, says: “Wedges have been a top selling style with raffia, patent and wicker styles. DVF, Mulberry, Pedro Garcia and D&G have all featured fabulous wedges in their collections. Look for block heels as an investment, which will be a key style for Autumn/Winter with great styles from Mulberry and Michael Kors.” Here we’ve picked out some our faves to provide you with inspiration.
