Inflation expectations ease in July
BRITONS’ expectations for inflation in the coming year eased to 2.7 per cent in July from three per cent in June, their lowest since April, a survey by Citi/YouGov showed yesterday.
That is still well above the Bank of England’s two per cent inflation target, but the survey showed that 30 per cent of respondents expected inflation to be below target in the year ahead, compared with only 19 per cent in the June survey.
The survey also showed expectations for inflation over the next 5-10 years held steady at 3.3 percent in July.
