I spy a glitzy new hotel
GRAB your trench coat and an overnight bag. D&D London, the restaurant group founded by Terence Conran, is preparing to unveil its first London boutique hotel in the City and is keeping the launch of the site deliberately cryptic.
But The Capitalist has been given a few clues about this mysterious new retreat.
The 80-room luxury hotel in South Place, between Moorgate and Liverpool Street, is inspired by a former Soviet spy ring that used to meet at 49 Moorgate in the 1920s.
“Those intrigued can take a peek through five spyholes on the site,” a spokesperson for the company said.
The official launch of South Place will be in September but some bedrooms will be opened to guests during the Olympics. D&D has also poached Tony Fleming, head chef of Axis at One Aldwych, to lead their catering team.
