I couldn’t snub England call, says Farbrace
ENGLAND’S new assistant coach Paul Farbrace admitted patriotism made the England and Wales Cricket Board’s job offer too good to resist, following confirmation of his appointment yesterday.
The 46-year-old was just three months into the lead coaching role with Sri Lanka where he helped deliver the World Twenty20 trophy, but was released from his contract after informing them of his desire to join up with England’s new head coach Peter Moores.
Farbrace said: “It’s fantastic to be given the opportunity to work with your own country’s national team and this was an offer that I could not turn down, as much as I have enjoyed working with the Sri Lankan players and sharing their recent success.”
Moores and Farbrace will now begin preparations for England’s next assignment, a one-day international with Scotland in Aberdeen on 9 May.
