Hughton hails summer signings as Norwich steal points at Stoke
NORWICH boss Chris Hughton believes his summer signings are starting to gel, having watched the Canaries climb away from the relegation zone with an important 1-0 victory at Stoke yesterday.
Hughton had faced criticism following two straight defeats to Spurs and Aston Villa but was boosted by his team’s second Premier League win of the season.
“I think it takes a little bit of time to settle in, and we have brought new players in as we did last season – and players can’t always hit it off straight away. We have to get used to them, how they play, how they’re used to playing before,” said Hughton, who spent more than £25m during the summer window on eight new players.
Norwich took a 34th-minute lead when Jonny Howson’s low shot from distance found the net. Midfielder Leroy Fer, signed for £7m from FC Twente, risked conceding a second-half penalty for a shirt-tug on Kenwyne Jones, yet no foul was given.
