HSBC UK M&A star taking team to Jefferies to lead transactional business
One of HSBC's top deal doers is jumping to investment bank Jefferies to lead its UK deal team.
Philip Noblet, a vice chair in global banking at HSBC, is joining Jefferies alongside two experienced mergers and acquisitions (M&A) specialists, according to sources close to the bank.
Noblet moved to HSBC in 2015 from Bank of America where he was chair of M&A for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

He is joined in the move by managing director Paul Bundred and director James Thomlinson.
Noblet rose to co-head HSBC global banking UK alongside Rob Ritchie.
His lengthy career includes stints at Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch having trained as a lawyer at Slaughter and May.
Key deals for Noblet include Cineworld’s $3.6bn (£2.8bn) takeover of Regal Entertainment and the £1.55bn management buyout of Iceland Foods.

The FT reports that he is joining Jefferies in a new role as head of UK banking.
Jefferies and HSBC declined to comment.
