How new buyers can live in Zone 2
The Greenland Place development near Canada Water could be a boon for first timers, says Kathryn Marsh
Greenland Place is the latest contemporary development in SE8. Located next to Greenland Docks and Canada Water, the Barratt London development will consist of 562 units of one, two and three bedrooms. The project will be spread over four blocks.
It is targeting a wide demographic, with prices starting at £250,000 for a studio apartment, enabling young buyers to get a foot on the property ladder. Not only does Greenland Place provide buyers with affordable, luxury accommodation, the developer says it will also introduce new commerce and employment to the area in the form of a business centre located within the development.
The business centre will be constructed within the 6,500 sq m development, providing some residents with the convenience of living next to their work. Other additions include a fitness suite, 24 hour concierge service and cycle parking.
A series of perimeter blocks, mewses, courtyards and squares will make up the new residential neighbourhood, which is designed by RMA Architects, a firm that specialises in the regeneration of waterside and urban brownfield sites. Many of the homes will feature a balcony overlooking landscaped courtyards and water features. The aesthetics of the development will be carried across to the wider area, with plans in place to regenerate the local community with new shops, leisure facilities and transport links. Other areas to have undergone similar improvements are the nearby Borough, Bankside and London Bridge.
Greenland Place is conveniently situated a short distance away from Surrey Quays DLR station, providing quick links in to central London and is located near to the Surrey Quays shopping centre and Seven Island leisure centre as well as an array of bars and restaurants.
The initial phase of the development launches in September 2013, with the first completions scheduled for June 2014.
