House prices rise again
HOUSE prices in England and Wales rose 0.2 per cent on the month in April, according to figures from the Land Registry.
The government agency said that left the average price of a home at £165,596.
The annual rate of house price inflation stands at 8.5 per cent.
Prices have been rising fastest in London over the past year, the data showed.
They were up by 14.8 per cent in the twelve months to April and put the capital’s average house price at £341,487 after an increase of 1.6 per cent in April.
The Land Registry said in a statement: “While London’s annual change mirrored that of England and Wales for quite some time, the capital’s growth rate is now overtaking steadily.”
