Horse Racing Betting Tips: Beat The Bank can spark more Goodwood celebrations
WE ARE spoilt for choice this weekend and tomorrow’s card at Goodwood features some fantastic racing.
The big race of the day is the Group Two Ladbrokes Celebration Mile (2.05pm), which has been won by Lightning Spear for the past two years.
David Simcock’s stable star isn’t back for a third crack thanks to his well-deserved first Group One success in the Sussex Stakes earlier this month.
BEAT THE BANK didn’t run up to his best in that race, but the lack of pace contributed to his downfall and he looks a class above this field.
Desperately unlucky in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, he then picked up the Group Two Summer Mile at the Berkshire track last month.
He was also an impressive winner of a Group Three over this course and distance last summer, so he doesn’t have any issues with the unique track.
This doesn’t look the strongest of renewals and it will be a real disappointment if he can’t get the job done with man of the moment Oisin Murphy in the saddle.
Andrew Balding’s horses are in fine form and Beat The Bank is worth a decent investment at the generally available 5/4.
The big betting race on the Sussex Downs is the Ladbrokes Bet £5 Get £20 Handicap over seven furlongs (3.15pm).
You want a low draw over seven furlongs and a mile at this course, but I actually think stall one could be tricky for favourite Chessman who is a hold-up horse.
Richard Fahey’s ALJADY ran well at Glorious Goodwood, has a handy berth in stall six and Connor Murtagh takes off a valuable 5lbs.
He looks a good each-way bet at 12/1.
