Horse racing betting: David Pipe on his Cheltenham team this weekend
WE HAVE historically had plenty of success at Cheltenham’s November Meeting and I was delighted that both of ours got into tomorrow’s BetVictor Gold Cup (2.25pm).
I’m really looking forward to seeing KING’S SOCKS back in action as this has been the plan for some time.
It may have looked like he didn’t get home over this trip at last year’s Festival, but we reckon that was his wind and that’s why he has had surgery since.
He seems in good form at home and should be fine on the ground, so we are hopeful of a good run.
Our other runner EAMON AN CNOIC would ideally prefer it a little softer, but he sneaks in at the bottom off a lovely weight and we have decided to let him take his chance too.
We have just the one runner this afternoon and that’s JACBEQUICK in the novices’ handicap hurdle (1.15pm).
He won well at Fakenham last time, will love the ground and won’t mind the hustle and bustle of the big field here.
Hopefully he can go well, and he could be a lively outsider.
We won’t be finalising our plans for the rest of our weekend runners at Cheltenham until later this morning, but DAKLONDIKE could run in the staying handicap chase (1.50pm), although he would want it a bit softer.
VIEUX LION ROUGE could run in the handicap hurdle (3.00pm) and should go okay as a prep for the Becher Chase.
Looking even further ahead to Sunday and we could have a few runners in the boys’ race (1.15pm).
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHT holds entries in that and the Greatwood Hurdle and could go well if putting his best foot forward.
